Scraping work is used especially in case of defects and inaccuracies of a machine as well as in case of geometry defects. The purpose of this precision work is to scrape or scrape off metallic substrates with a scraper and precise manual work. The optimum geometry data are to be restored by scraping (pulling, pushing, point scraping) or grinding the guideways, machine guides, machine tables, machine stands, machine bed, machine slides, wedges and strips. Worn guideways are recoated with slideway coatings, reground and/or rescraped. Scraping of linear guides also results in increased machine accuracy. The scraping technique is more accurate than the grinding technique because there is more support per square inch and it is scraped without tension. The accuracy of the scraping is 0.001 mm (1/1000) and is measurable thanks to spirit levels, inclinometers and the autocollimator.
